2013 will see more action from Sustainable Detroit. We’ve updated the Detroit Green Map with more functions available now. We’ve got a new team getting ready to add more information, so go suggest sites to them now. Meanwhile, we’re also working on updating the structure to get more organizations actively involved and finally launch the shared calendar for all the relevant events. 2013 will be a good year. The world is watching Detroit. News has started to spread. We all know Detroit has more than its share of challenges. And now more people are beginning to understand that Detroit is a city that is a critical part of the global conversation on how to successfully step forward into the future.
Detroit is a laboratory for the 21st century. Many multiple efforts are underway — some coordinated and some small and distributed like seeds on the wind — to experiment and discover a better way to do things. Detroit is one of the greatest casualties of the post-industrial economy. As other places begin to struggle with the decline of the industrial model, Detroit’s experience becomes more and more relevant to the world.
We want to make it easier. Yet, for years, it has been hard to find out the many amazing efforts happening in this city around Sustainability issues. Sustainable Detroit has been working as an information gateway since 2004, making it easier to find out about the varied sustainability efforts here. Our scope includes all of metro Detroit with a strong focus on the City of Detroit.
