This spring Metro Detroit will join cities throughout the
world in participating in the 23rd annual Great American
Meatout. Our mission for the Meatout is to ask
participants to give up meat for a day and educate them on
the benefits of a plant-based diet, while giving them the
resources and tools to change their diets - and their
lives! VegMichigan will host national and local lecturers,
videos, fun and educational events, and food demonstrations,
along with exceptional vegan food and products, as always.
By providing a rewarding, memorable experience we hope to
inform, inspire and help people change forever the way they
think about the food they eat!

But we need your help to make it happen! There are many
ways in which you can help make Meatout 2007 an enjoyable
and successful event. Opportunities are available now to
help with planning the Meatout, assist on Meatout
Committees, and for Meatout “day-of-event” jobs.
VegMichigan has formed the local Great American Meatout
Planning Committee. If you would like to get involved in
planning the Meatout, we still have openings for volunteers
to lead Committees. Please contact the Volunteer
Coordinator (above) to find out which Committee Chairs are
still available.

We also need volunteers to assist by helping out on these
committees: National Vendor Committee (contact vegan
vendors for samples), Sponsorship Committee (contact
potential Meatout sponsors), Publicity Committee (help
promote our Meatout), Flyer Distribution Committee
(distribute Meatout flyers throughout the Metro Detroit
area), and the Volunteer Committee (help organize
volunteers and schedules)

Day-of-event jobs are vital to ensuring the Meatout is a
pleasant experience for attendees and workers alike. One
of these volunteer opportunities may be perfect for you!
* VegMichigan Membership Team (help us grow by enrolling
new members)
* Gatekeeper Team (help manage access to the Meatout and
its events)
* Traffic Control Team (help manage crowds and capacity)
* Room Captains (maintain volunteers and supplies for your
room by working with Runners)
* Runners (provide volunteers and supplies for Room
Captains)
* Handouts Team (hand out samples and coupons to
attendees)
* Setup/Cleanup Team (set up and clean up rooms and
events)
* Parking Lot Team (manage vehicle and foot traffic)

For all inquiries, contact the Volunteer Coordinator
(above). Even if you can’t volunteer, consider making a
donation to help fund the most progressive vegan event in
Michigan by visiting our website (above).

We’re striving to make the Metro-Detroit Meatout a
life-changing experience that will benefit humans, animals,
and our planet. You can help make it happen.
