(1) The Great American Meatout is coming!

Attention: the Great American Meatout is coming! Yes,
that’s right. On Sunday, March 18, 2007, from noon to 5:00
p.m., VegMichigan will be hosting this year’s Great American
Meatout celebration at Ferndale High School.

There will be free food samples from many well-known
restaurants, terrific lectures on everything from health to
weight loss to the environment, fabulous food
demonstrations, and exhibitors showcasing their products!
You can get in for only $10 (or FREE for VegMichigan
members*).

For more information or directions to the Meatout, check
out VegMichigan’s website at http://VegMichigan.org

*VegMichigan members always get into the Great American
Meatout for free (up to two admissions for a family
membership)! Just bring your VegMichigan (or Veggies in
Motion) membership card to the Meatout for free admission.
Not yet a member? Join VegMichigan before or on the day of
the Meatout, and get in for free.

(2) Bake sale donations are needed.

VegMichigan is requesting donations of vegan baked goods
for sale at the Great American Meatout. The Oakland County
Health Code limits us to only offer baked goods for sale to
the public. While breads and desserts aren't always the
healthiest choice, these much-loved treats give Meatout
attendees a real sense of the extraordinary adaptability of
a vegan diet. And who doesn't love a good cookie now and
then!

Requirements for Bake Sale Donations

Vegan - No animal products; no dairy, no eggs, and no
honey.
Non-Perishable – The item must be stable at room
temperature (does not require refrigeration).
Wrapped - Use transparent plastic wrap so the item is
visible.
Small Packages - Wrap the items individually or in small
groups (2 or 3 cookies, for instance).
Priced - Writing a price on masking tape is fine. Place
the price on top of the item to avoid handling and damage.
Recipes – Please provide 50 copies (at least) of the
recipe, which must be provided to in order to sell the
item. (No copier will be available at Ferndale High
School.)

Special Diets and Suggestions
While we appreciate all vegan donations, there has been
increasing demand for sugar-free or gluten-free, as well as
organic goods, but all vegan baked goods are very much
appreciated and always greatly enjoyed by our guests!
