From a friend of mine in Baltimore.

----------------------------------------

So, there is a Maryland group called One Less Car, that claims to
advocate for public transit users and bicyclists. They appear to focus a
lot on bicyclists.

Got an e-mail from them, about their annual Tour Du Port, which has a
walking option, along with 20 mile and 40 mile bicycle options. It
sounded interesting, so I clicked around the website.

The directions portion only contained driving directions, with the
comment that there was plenty of free parking!

No bus instructions. Indeed, the buses don't run to the starting point
(they stop a few blocks away).

So, I e-mailed them, telling them that, if I was reading my dog-eared
MTA map correctly, the 13 goes the closest to the starting point, and
the 10 is within walking distance.

Said that I'd been considering taking the bus down to do the walking
option, but that it sounded like they were a lot more focused on
bicycles than on pedestrians and transit users. I wished them a pleasant
ride.

You should see the snark I edited out. Repeatedly.

There is something both hilarious and enraging about an event dedicated
to raising money to get cars off the road that has obviously been
completely planned around people driving cars to get there. Or SUVs,
perhaps.
